Dec. 9th - Chick Fil A Spirit Night

Chick-fil-a night is this Thursday starting at 4:30 pm.  The flyer says that it starts at 5pm, but i asked him to allow us to start earlier since many of the juniors go to tumbling at 5:00pm.  So, please, let’s make Thursday a big CHICK-FIL-A night for Cheers Elite. Don’t forget we get 20% of the profit for that night.  You must have the flyer printed off and hand it to the counter clerk. See you there!!

Way to go Cheers Elite!! Once again, great performances lead to high honors!!!  The junior squad placed 2nd in the large junior division.  Cheers Elite seniors placed 1st in the large senior co-ed division. In addition, the senior squad won Grand Champion over all level 4 squads!  Way to go!  Congratulations to both squads!!

Sevierville Competition

Juniors: 

Be there at 10am!  Dressed!  Ready to go to warmups!  Compete at 11:38am.

Juniors are competing against 3 other squads.

Seniors:

Be there at 1:45! Dressed!  Ready to go to warmups!  Compete at 3:36pm.

Seniors are competing against 2 other squads.

Teams will compete in reverse order on Sunday based on their ranking. Regardless of order, they will compete in the same block of time as Saturday.....give or take 30 minutes.

Junior awards are at 1pm on Sunday.

Senior awards are at 4:15 on Sunday.

There will be TWO different floors & warm-up rooms at the same time, with both school and all-star teams competing on Saturday. Please note on the order of competition which venue we will be competing in. All-stars will compete in SOUTH EXHIBIT HALL B.  If you notice SCHOOL teams on the floor, you're in the wrong place! ha ha ha

Spectator Fees for Saturday are $10/adult, $5/child  each day OR $15/adult for both days, $8/child for both days, and FREE for all children ages 4 and under. 

Our scores will count in an 20/80 split. 20% of your final score will be from Saturday's routine and 80% will be from Sunday's routine.

First of all, great job to all squads this past weekend. 2nd of all, the mixed bag orders have shipped. I will receive them on Thursday. Candle orders are due SATURDAY!!

Our next competition is in Sevierville, TN. It will be hosted by UCA. The address to the venue is listed below.  When making hotel reservations, keep in mind that this is one of the busiest times of year for the Gatlinburg area.  Traffic tends to move very slowly and can sometimes take a while to travel a short distance.  (Someone told me that it once took them 3 hours to travel 9 miles! YIKES!!)
Also, there is a Fantasy of Lights parade scheduled for 7:30pm Friday night....if you're interested.  There is another parade at 11am on Saturday.  You can find our more info on the web.

Lastly, Juniors should expect to practice until 8:30pm on Thursdays from now on.  During Thanksgiving week, Seniors will practice on Wednesday, as usual.  Juniors won't have their normal practice on turkey day.  Juniors and Seniors will NOT practice on Saturday, Nov. 27th, but instead will practice on Sunday, Nov. 28th. Times will be announced later.

Disclaimer….:) Forgive me if this email seems a little demanding. I’m trying to give you as much information as possible, while stressing the importance of turning in things on time. I plan to place the orders on the dates given below. If you know you are going to miss a practice, make sure you turn your money and orders in ahead of time to avoid being without. : ) also, anytime you are turning in money for something other than competition fees or monthly dues, make sure you put it in an envelope and leave it at the front desk with my name on it. That’s the only way to ensure you are properly credited.

Fundraisers:
We will be starting fundraisers the first week in August. More info will be given at that time.

Excite Night:
Everyone mark your calendars for Excite Night on October 24 from 2-4pm. All squads will participate. Last year was our first event ever and it was a HUGE success! It will be a dress rehearsal performance for friends, family, etc. Each cheerleader needs to contribute $5 for the decorations. This is due Sept. 25.

Uniform Fees:
Uniform fees were due last week. Only 25% of the people ordering have paid. The gym cannot/will not order your uniform without payment. Uniform fees MUST be in by August 5th. This will be the last opportunity to have your uniform included with the order. Those that have not paid will not have a uniform ordered. We never know how long it will take to get the uniforms and I have been instructed to place the order next week.

Competition Fee for St. Louis Nov. 6-7:
The competition fees were spaced out so that fees wouldn’t overlap. The first fee of $120 was due this past week. If you have not paid, please do so at your next practice. Remember to make your checks to CHEERS ELITE. We NEVER want to incur late fees for registering late. The next competition fee of $60 is due August 12. A competition schedule can be found at the bottom of this email.
Competition Makeup:
I will be ordering our competition makeup on Sept. 11. When we order several kits, we get a discount. The kit this year will include the following:
• Teal eye glitter
• Show seal (used to adhere eye glitter)
• Oh so red! Lipstick
The kit will cost approximately $20. Again the money for this is due on Saturday, Sept. 11. For those of you that don’t need all products, you can select products individually on the order form that will be given out at practice.

Eyelashes:
Our girls will be wearing false eyelashes during competition performances. You can pick these up almost anywhere. I won’t be ordering these for you. Most girls wear the lashes with the sparkly rhinestones on them. I’ve seen them at Walmart, Walgreens, Target, CVS, and Sally Beauty. Finding them in stock is hit and miss. I would encourage you to start looking NOW. They cost about $4 a pair. I plan to buy 3 pair to last our competition season. Each pair can be reused several times, if handled with care. The following website sells them for $3.95 and RIGHT NOW they have free shipping! I just placed an order for 3 pair. I ordered the “ROMANTIC” lashes as shown in the picture below. Free shipping won’t last forever, so I’d order soon.

Competition Hairbows:
If you don’t have a bow, you need to let me know. Bow money is due September 4th and will cost approximately $13. I will have an exact price by the end of this week. Again, if your money isn’t in by Sept. 4th, I will not order a bow for you.

Warmups:

Purchasing a warmup is not mandatory!!! Most girls have one and wear them to each competition, but again, they are optional. The cost is $65.00. On Saturday, August 7th, I will have sizers available for the girls to try on. This is the ONLY TIME the sizers will be available. The money for warm-ups is due August 28th. We never know how long it will take to get them in. In addition, the jackets have a star embroidered on the chest with “cheers elite” written inside it. Trust me, they’re cute. I will also provide you an order form for this as well.  If you need to order individual pieces, I can do that for you as well.

Sweatshirts:
I’ve had several requests for a hooded sweatshirt that we had several years ago. The sweatshirts will have “Cheers Elite” written in script and tackle twill embroidery. The cost will be $30, or $38 with your name embroidered on the back. They are a bit more expensive due to the embroidery design, but they are cute! Thanks to Cassie Presnell’s mom for getting this shirt order together. Shirts are $25/youth and $30/adult. If you would like to order, I will have a sign up sheet at the desk on Saturday, August 7th. Don’t forget this is our first practice. You will need to pay for the shirts when you order.

Summer Schedules

Hello everyone! Just a reminder that the summer cheer and tumble schedule starts Monday, June 7th.

Your cheers elite time will remain the same, but remember to sign up for a tumbling class.

Junior squad, you will attend tumbling together as a group from 5-6pm on Thursdays.

I hope everyone has enjoyed their week off!  It's time to buckle down since Jason arrives in a couple of weeks.

Open Gym Fundraiser

Wow!  Friday's open gym was a HUGE success!  Thanks to Jim and Vicki for donating the gym and their time.  Also, to all my workers....THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! We had twice as many kids show up as I was expecting, but we pulled it off and raised a ton of money for our squads!  We will have another open gym night after school starts.  Next time, we will have different squads participate on different nights to reduce the number of kids in the gym.  Live and learn, right?

Magazine Fundraiser

Need an EASY way to earn some cheer money? I registered through this site last season and have made over $250 for Kailey. All you do is create an account and then send emails to friends and family. They can order new magazine subscriptions or renew current subscriptions. There is no cost to you….just a little time to type in the email addresses. Once a month, this company mails out profit checks for 40% of your sales. The check is mailed directly to YOU. It sure beats the hassle of having to go door-knocking for sales. The magazines are not over-priced either. I sent the email to friends and family all over the country. Sometimes I would get a check in the mail for $20 and sometimes it would be for as much as $80. Regardless, I didn’t have to do any more than type in the email addresses after setting up an account.

Open Gym Fundraiser

Cheers Elite will host an open gym event on Friday, May 14th.  Cheers Elite team members may sell tickets 
to classmates, family members or friends. Tickets cost $10 each, including your own. All money goes to profit your cheer account.  Open Gym will be held from 6:30-8:30pm.  I will be printing up tickets for you to sell. Make sure that your put the cheerleader’s name on the ticket in the space provided to ensure his/her account is credited. Tickets can also be purchased at the door that evening. I will need parent volunteers to help chaperone the gym from 630-830. If you are willing to do so, please email me and let me know.

I am only going to print tickets for those that are interested. If you would like tickets to sell, please email me and let me know asap.  I will print the tickets and hand them out at practice next week. Email Kim at kimberly819@gmail.com if you have questions.

As the 2009-2010 season draws to a close, we want to congratulate everyone on a great year and to keep everyone informed on what lies ahead. For those of you currently on Cheers Elite...your TEAM TUITION will no longer be charged as of April...you will simply remain in your current tumbling class or classes, and be charged accordingly. Your Auto-Pay will be adjusted!

CHEERS ELITE OPEN PRACTICES
These workouts are for anyone (old & new) to practice under the direction of our Cheers Elite Coaches...to let everyone see what competitive cheerleading is about at Lakewood Gymnastics.
--Current Cheers Elite members are encouraged to invite friends to participate!!
--There is NO CHARGE!
--You do not have to be a member of Lakewood Gymnastics to participate (waiver required).
--Youth/Jr. Open Practice - April 15 & April 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (12 yrs. And under) * Members of this year’s Mini Squad may attend from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
--Jr./Sr. Open Practice - April 14 & April 21 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (13 yrs. And older)

--Cheers Elite Economic Stimulus Package - We are dropping our monthly fee $10.00!
Over the course of the year, this will help each family pay for at least one Competition Fee!
--Sibling Discount - Anyone with more than one child on a squad will receive $10.00 off the
second child’s tuition...this will help pay for another Competition Fee!
--Anyone who pays the entire year’s tuition in advance, will receive an additional 10% off the
total year’s fees…monthly = $930 for the year…ne payment = $837 for the year)

Hot Springs Results

Congratulations to the Cheers Elite Seniors!! They won first place in the Senior Co-ed Level 4 division and GRAND CHAMPION! Way to go!

The Junior squad should be very proud as well, coming in second place in the junior level 2 division. As a matter of fact, they were only hundredths of a point behind the first place team.

Lakewood closed Jan. 7th

Just a quick announcement….
Lakewood will be closed at both locations on Thursday, Jan. 7 due to the road conditions. All classes and team practices are cancelled for today. Team practices on Friday and Saturday will continue as scheduled. Minis and Juniors practice in Mayfield Friday evening and Juniors and Seniors practice in Paducah on Saturday morning. We have spoken with NCA and the competition will go on as scheduled. Stay warm, stay safe and good luck to all squads this weekend.
